5 Technology Trends to Look at in 2021

Technology continues to advance at a rapid rate and 2021 looks set to be no different regardless of the current situation.

New developments can help change businesses sensationally in a short period of time and we have found a few that could transform yours within the next 12 months or so.

To help you keep current with all the new developments in technology, here are the most important trends to keep an eye out for this year:

AI and Machine Learning

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has received a lot of attention over the past few years alone, but it appears to be gaining more pace than ever in 2021. It ranks number one on our list because of how greater impact it is having on both our work and home lives. This despite only being in the early stages. ComputingNews is just one of many expecting the AI market to grow into a $200 billion industry within the next four years.

Do you own a Google Home or Amazon Echo device? Use Google Assistant on your phone? Speech recognition has been one of the big changes in technology over the past couple of years.

Machine Learning is a subset of Artificial Intelligence but is greatly in demand from skilled professionals. This is already becoming important among data scientists, automation specialists, and content curators. It will be even bigger than that in only a couple of years from now.

Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality

Virtual Reality (VR) can put the user into a real-world environment solely from their headset whilst Augmented Reality (AR) enhances their environment.

This technology has mostly been used for gaming to date with making PlayStation 4 games even more exciting. They have only touched the surface so far with how powerful it can be for the PS5.

And it’s only a matter of time before they become further integrated into our everyday lives. Shops could put them on the outside of their stores for passers-by to see how they look in new clothes, products, etc. That would be great when you’re looking to buy gifts for friends and family for example.

5G

Where 3G and 4G have allowed us to browse the internet from our mobile devices and increase bandwidth for streaming YouTube and the likes, 5G is expected to enhance our lives much further.

5G will be able to enable services such as the aforementioned VR and AR, cloud-based gaming and much more.

What’s more, it has the potential to be used in factories, retail and even helps improve safety in traffic management. By the end of the year, many telecom companies, including Apple, Nokia, and T-mobile are expected to launch worldwide services by the end of the year.

Blockchain

Blockchain is currently mostly associated with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, but few realise it can offer security in ways other technologies cannot.

The chain of data is secured by being unable to change. They are so secure that no one entity can take sole control of the set of data.

Internet of Things

The phrase Internet of Things (IoT) has been around for a few years now. Many products are now built with WiFi connectivity and can be connected to each other. Hence where the name comes from.

Used in devices, home appliances, homes, and many more products means you’re probably already using the Internet of Things without perhaps knowing about it. If you’re locking your doors remotely, track your steps walking and running using FitBit and even turn our bedroom lights on from a different room.

Suggested article: Activity trackers and the Internet of Things

This is just the beginning of what IoT can be doing for us in a couple of years from now. Our lives will be more efficient and safer in the near future.

What is the Most Profitable Hydroponic Crop to Grow?

A person considering growing crops hydroponically for profit should do their research before beginning to set up their hydroponic gardens. To be successful at this enterprise, a person must purchase the correct equipment, install it properly, and choose the best crops to grow for profit. This should not be a seat-of-the-pants operation. Hydroponic gardening done correctly yields healthy, salable crops all year round. Hydroponic gardens set up inside an appropriate building are not subject to winter freezes or summer dry spells.

Getting Started With Hydroponic Gardening

To start a hydroponic garden, gather all the information available to help choose the correct equipment and crops to grow. Find or build the best building for hydroponic gardening. The building should be large enough for the starter garden and have room for expansion as the knowledge and business grows. Hydroponic gardening has a hefty initial cost, and those funds must be available. Then, the first crops should be ones that will bring in a sizable cash flow the first season.

Suggested article: What is the Most Profitable Hydroponic Crop to Grow?

After making the investment in hydroponic gardening building and equipment, the grower must choose the correct first crops to make part of their investment back quickly. Some of the most profitable crops to start with are:

Bay leaves are an herb that is much valued in cooking and goes for about $30 per pound. This herb is used in soups, hot-dishes, roasted pork and chicken, and more. Bay leaves are grown on laurel trees and are a slow-growing crop using the drip irrigation system. The plants are cold-resistant but prefer a nice warm, dry growing environment. They are low maintenance and can bring high income.

Chives taste like onion and are used to season many dishes. They are an easy, profitable crop to grow. They are also a natural insect repellent. Chives can be planted in small, close spaces and can yield $14.00 per pound.

Ginseng can sell for from $500 to $600 per pound when dried. It is a root crop used in teas and energy drinks. It is also used in herbal supplements. It contains antioxidants. This crop grows slowly, so the turn around takes more time. Since it has a high price, the time is worth it.

Dill is very easy to grow and it is a valued herb selling for around $14 per pound. It needs to be replanted every three to four weeks since plants do not regrow when pruned. It is easy to grow with a fast turn around, so it is a wonderful hydroponic crop.

Basil is a high-demand herb that is sold for around $14 per pound. It is easy to grow with a lot of light. Basil comes in more than 100 species with varied flavors from lime to licorice. Most growers plant several types of basil.

Cilantro can be another high-profit herb for hydroponic gardening. It is used in Mexican, Chinese, and Thai cooking as well as many American dishes. Harvest can come in as little as three or four weeks to help with cash flow.

Strawberries are a fruit that is always popular and brings $2 to $6 per pound. It is most popular in the winter when traditionally grown strawberries are out of season. Strawberry plants can be heavy producers.

Lettuce will grow in the simplest hydroponic systems with minimal attention. When the outer leaves are harvested, the inner leaves grow to take their place. They don’t like hot temperatures and should be grown at 50 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit, and supplying them with nitrogen will increase the yields.

Tomatoes give a steady supply of produce when grown correctly. They like temperatures between 58 and 79 degrees Fahrenheit. This crop requires a little more expertise for best results but is a good income maker.

Cucumbers grow best with lots of moisture, warmth, and nutrients, and are one of the highest-yielding vegetables hydroponic gardeners can grow. They need to be grown with supported trellises since they are vining plants.

Peppers can grow in any season and give superior yields. They grow best in an ebb and flow type system, and they require a little more room and special lighting.

These are only part of the vegetables that can be grown in hydroponic gardens for maximum profit or for family use. Additional plants to grow include spinach, Swiss chard, kale, celery, beans, mint, and parsley. It is wise to grow a variety of crops to keep a steady harvest and income for commercial growing operations.

Setting Up a Hydroponic Garden

There are six types of hydroponic growing systems to consider:

The wick system is good for beginners. This is the easiest system mechanically with no moving parts or electrical components. But, it is limited in crops and size. It calls for a water reservoir, a wick, a growing tray, a growing medium, and a light fixture. The water culture system is also good for beginners. This system requires a styrofoam platform, a water reservoir, nutrient-enriched water, an aeration system, and seedlings in net pots. This system is only good for water-hungry plants such as lettuce. The ebb and flow system is good for beginners. It is more complicated but very versatile. This system requires a water reservoir, water, hydroponic fertilizer, a growing tray, seedlings in net pots, a grow light, two tubes, one submersible pump, and an electronic timer. The drip system is relatively simple. It requires an electronic timer, submersible water pump, air pump, nutrient solution, tubing, grow trays, water containers, water, growing medium, drip emitters, and seedlings in pots. The nutrient film technique is a more advanced system. It requires a grow light, an air stone and pump, tubing, a submersible pump, a water reservoir, water, hydroponic fertilizer, and seedlings in net pots. The aeroponic system is also for more-advanced gardeners. This system has plant roots suspended in the air and periodically misted with water and nutrients. It requires advanced pumps and misters. If the equipment does not work, the roots can dry out and die in a short time. This system requires more vigilance. You will need the water containers, water, nutrients, tubing, seedlings in net pots, pumps, and sprayer with misting head.

The choice of the hydroponic system will depend on many factors, including the size of the proposed operation, budget, plants to be grown, skill level, and the time available to oversee the gardens. Some growers use several systems for different crops.

Suggested reference: Round Rock Tree Experts

It might be a good idea to start small and try several systems before deciding on the main system for a large operation. Buy the equipment and the seedlings from reputable suppliers with good customer service reputations. Don’t cut corners on the garden set up, and plan on spending the needed time overseeing the operation. Equipment problems need to be discovered and fixed quickly to avoid the loss of plants.

7 Key Elements of Dressing for Success

Although your choice of clothing might seem like a small factor in the larger scheme of your professional life, making a winning impression with your wardrobe is more important than you think. When we dress up it makes us feel good, and when we feel good, we are more confident and perform better.

Or, as Betty Harragan, the author of “Games Mother Never Taught You” tells us “If your clothes don’t convey the message that you are competent, able, ambitious, self-confident, reliable and authoritative, nothing you say or do will overcome the negative signals emanating from your apparel.”

If you are even the slightest bit ambitious, you’ll want your wardrobe to work positively in your favour and make you look impeccable. You’ve probably heard this piece of advice before, but how does someone follow it? Here are the 7 key elements that can help you dress for success and always look sharp.

1. Only Buy and Wear What Fits

Of all the style sins out there, wearing badly fitting clothes is probably the worst. Nothing can make or break your outfits like the fit. When it comes to looking good, it’s not your size or shape that matters, it’s the fit of your clothes.

It doesn’t matter how expensive an item is or how well it is made, if it doesn’t fit, it will never look good. And sadly, you won’t feel good in it, either.

It is easy to tell when something doesn’t fit properly. The buttons on your shirt are pulling, the sleeves are either too long or too short, the pants keep riding up. There is constriction or perhaps a sense of shapelessness. But above all, there is a feeling of all around discomfort.

Properly fitting clothes feel comfortable and drape over your body without stretching or billowing. They complement your silhouette and proportions and give your outfit a stylish edge.

Additionally, well-fitting clothes celebrate who you are, help lift your mood, set the emotional scene for success, and project confidence to others around you.

2. Learn the Marks of Quality

Wearing quality clothing is paramount to dressing for success.

Fortunately, there are several ways you can spot better quality clothing. The material clothing is made of, the workmanship, and the trims usually give a pretty good idea of the garment’s quality.

Quality clothes are often made with natural fibres like cotton, wool, and silk. Synthetic fabrics, such as nylon and polyester actually contain plastic. They look cheaper and feel rougher against the skin, too.

However, the quality of natural fabrics like cotton also varies. In order to figure out what grade of cotton something is made of is to see how it fares when held against the light. Fabric with a higher thread count will let less light through suggesting it is of better quality.

Additionally, quality fabrics feel smooth and soft to the touch and become even softer after being washed.

As for workmanship, look for loose threads and uneven seams that are tell-tale signs of low quality. On the other hand, closely stitched and reinforced buttonholes are signs of good workmanship. If there is a pattern, look at the seams of the garment to make sure that the pattern lines up.

Trims include all the little things that go into your garment such as buttons, zippers, or decorative embellishments. Inspect how well the buttons and zippers match with the main fabric. The addition of extra thread and a button is a sign of quality.

3. Invest in High-Quality, Well-Made Basics

A capsule wardrobe containing high-quality, well-made basics is a must for an elegant and classy look. These items stand the test of time because they never lose their appeal. If you have great basics like for instance a classic blazer, a few dress shirts and well-fitting pants to build on, you will always have something to wear when dressing for success.

When it comes to wardrobe basics, it is always worth to invest in quality because quality clothes actually look better and, by the laws of cost per wear theory, also last longer. Quality shows. Superior craftsmanship tends to exude sophistication and elevates every outfit every time.

Which basics to invest in depends on taste and personal preferences. For me, personally, having a nice collection of dress shirts is the key to creating signature looks that not only fit perfectly with each occasion, but are also fresh, polished and instantly recognizable.

4. Wear Clothes You Find Comfortable

Looking elegant and feeling comfortable in your business outfits are not mutually exclusive. In fact, if you feel confined and restricted in your clothes it will negatively affect your day whereas feeling comfortable goes a long way toward feeling confident and put together.

Comfort is all about fit, sizing and fabric.

We all know that clothes that are too small or too tight aren’t comfortable. Neither are the baggy ones which swamp your silhouette and make you look bigger and older. Consequently, you should never compromise on fit and sizing.

When it comes to dressing immaculately and feeling comfortable, quality fabrics make all of the difference. If something feels rough to the touch it is not going to feel comfortable on your body. Or, if something wrinkles when you squeeze it, you cannot expect any better from it when you wear it.

Finding the perfect fits and fabrics is, of course, a process but it is one worth undertaking for the ultimate goal of feeling comfortable, happy with how you look and confident.

5. Keep Your Professional Wardrobe Classic

When dressing for success, follow the 70/30 rule. Or as Catherine Brock of Budget Fashionista put it:

“70 percent of your wardrobe should never go out of style. We’re talking classics like a dark pencil skirt, a black pair of pumps or a basic white button up that can be tucked into anything. The last 30 percent of your professional wardrobe can encompass some fun-try statement, but work appropriate jewlry, red pumps, or a trendy ruffled blouse.”

Trends come and go, but classic attire is everlasting. Wardrobe basics like the white shirt or navy blazer are a perfect contrast to exciting accessories and don’t make the outfit overloaded. They are ideal for creating everyday business outfits, which are elegant, refined and tasteful.

6. Accessorise

Accessories can help change up your looks and complete your outfits. It is recommendable to wear at least one accessory which can be anything from a beautiful watch, a necklace, a scarf or even a pair of earrings.

Accessories make the difference between a bland outfit and one that turns heads. They help set you apart and are the essence of true personal style. Additionally, they spark joy in your clothing and make your style more interesting.

7. Aim for Elegance

There’s a beautiful quote by Giorgio Armani: “Elegance is not about being noticed, it’s about being remembered.”

Looking elegant in your clothes takes a fine eye, understanding what works for you and knowledge of the best places to shop.

Also, aiming for elegance entails avoiding anything that can be described as “too”. Too short, too tight, too old, and too flashy are all styles to avoid.

What is the difference between a list, a prospect and a lead ?

I get many calls from marketers looking for data. Many people use the terms list, prospect and lead interchangeably. But, that could not be further from the truth.

The term list is the broadest. There are lots of people on a cold list; all kinds of people. In the “old days of spray and pray”, advertisers mailed to everybody and hoped that some of their efforts would pay off. Well, not everyone on a cold list is your prospect. The truth is that marketing to non-prospects can actually weaken your brand’s impact.  Not only that, it’s a tremendous waste of time and money.

In lead generation, the key is to take that cold list and narrow down the possibilities to create a workable list of solid prospects. These prospects can be used for direct mail, telemarketing, email, or digital advertising.

Lead Generation needs to be a daily exercise.

Recommended Article – Marketing to Death

In general, a prospect is a person whom you believe could be a potential customer.

Why might they be a potential customer?Do they resemble your current customers? Are you comparing demographics such as age, income, or homeownership data? Are you looking deeper at purchase triggers or lifestyle information to help massage the data into viable prospects for your business?Do they have the credit to afford your product? Are you using credible research or survey data to help shape your prospect universe?

Using Data to Define Your Prospect List

What kind of data can you use to help you define your prospects?

Many industry trade associations sponsor consumer opinion studies that their members can access. For example, the Water Quality Association produces a Consumer Opinion Study every two years. This gives their members credible survey data that pinpoints the top buying groups: New Homeowners, Families with Children, Homeowners with Credit, Homeowners with a focus on the environment.

Even though the research has shown that a high percentage of these groups are buyers of water treatment products, these prospects may not necessarily be keen on purchasing from you today. But they are still good prospects. By keeping them in your funnel and marketing to them more than once, you can increase the probability that they will purchase from you.

Or, you can model your own customers to see if you can clone them. Many prospect list providers will do this for you at no charge.

The cost for prospect data ranges from 5 cents per record to 25 cents per record, depending on complexity of the prospect name and quantity.

Recommended Article – 6 Commandments of Lead Generation

Once the prospect exhibits some kind of interest in your product, we can move them from prospect to lead. In this case, you have generated the lead yourself. We call this a self-generated lead. These leads are yours and yours alone. Your job is to work with them.

Self-Generated Leads

These are the best leads. A prospect has responded to your marketing outreach. They have filled out a form on your website, indicating that they want more information about your product.

Now that they have filled out the form on your website, you need to contact them right away. According to a study by Lead Connect, 78% of customers buy from the company that responds to their inquiry first. That means that time is of the essence when it comes to working with interested leads.

Hot Lead

Hubspot defines a hot lead as a qualified lead who is highly interested in your product. They are ready for direct contact asking for the sale.

According to Hubspot, a hot lead

Has expressed a level of interest in your product.Your product fulfills a needThey can afford or can authorize the purchase of your product.Has a clear timeline to purchase the product

You will want to give this to your best salesperson and have her close the sale right now.

Warm Lead

A warm lead is an individual who has expressed interest in your product or company. Right now, they may not have a sense of urgency or a specific timeline for their purchase.  A warm lead is someone who is aware of your product and is interested in buying from you. They just may not be looking to buy right now.

A warm lead is definitely someone you want to keep at the top of your pipeline. These are leads you want to nurture. After all, you’ve already done so much work getting them to this point.

There are some tried and true methods for working warm leads. You may want to offer them a product demo or show them customer success stories. Consider personalized emails, remarketing, and sharing content that shows how you provide value to them.

And, since they’ve been having a hard time pushing that “buy” button, you might consider a special short-term offer to help close the sale.

Recommended Article – Create the Perfect Offer

A Comment About Buying Leads

If I had a dollar for every prospect who called my office looking for exclusive Hot Leads, I’d be rich. Chances are that if a company generated a list of people who want to buy a new roof, had the money in hand, and wanted to buy that new roof today, they would be working it themselves.

For those leads that don’t pan out, lead generators may sell the cast-offs to other companies as “aged leads”.

For some businesses, these aged leads can be a good source of new prospect data. But remember, you will have to work with them from the beginning since they are not familiar with your company or what you do.

Home Basement Waterproofing Services – All You Need To Know

Have you ever wondered how a building’s foundation is constructed? The base of any building or home determines its beauty and power. When a group of architects plans to build a house or other concrete structure, the first thing they draw on the blueprint is a massive hole in the ground known as the base. The best element of every building structure is the foundation, which is typically found in the basement. When they begin building a structure to make a home, they first dig a hole and fill it with concrete or ready-made concrete blocks to provide a solid standing base, then the walls are created, and finally, they finish the house.

When the basement walls are constructed, a void is left outside the walls filled with backfill. Backfill cannot avoid water for long periods, which is where the main issue arises. Water is present in the ground soil, and it seeps through your concrete walls, causing damage. As a result, you’ll find strange wet stains on your walls, an odd and unpleasant odor in the halls, and so on.

What are the benefits of basement waterproofing?

Basement waterproofing services are a one-time installation process. It is a solution that can last for a long time.It has no impact on any of the areas directly above the basement. It protects, strengthens, and secures the base.It will not depreciate the value of your home. This process is less expensive than other types of waterproofing.

It’s also a significant responsibility to find and choose a trustworthy business. You can look companies up on the internet and compare them by reading feedback and ratings. When it comes to Basement waterproofing in Toronto, don’t wait too long to decide because the problem will only get worse as time passes, increasing the expense of installing a waterproofing device. Furthermore, it is unnecessary to choose the cheapest service; spending money on waterproofing can be considered an investment in increasing the value of your home.

Understanding waterproofing of the basement

Professional basement waterproofing is one of the most important ways to prevent basement flooding. AquaTech basement waterproofing by a reputable waterproofing company is a long-term solution for keeping water out of your basement, saving your home’s integrity, and making it a safer and more comfortable place to live. Wet Basement Solutions can be a difficult — and expensive — task for homeowners. If, on the other hand, you’re struggling with leaking foundation walls or water welling up from the floor of your basement or crawlspace, finding a cost-effective solution could save you a lot of money in the long run.

Interior basement waterproofing

Interior basement waterproofing walls are usually the easiest and most cost-effective form of basement waterproofing. This approach ensures that any gaps or holes in your basement walls, floors, and around windows and doors are properly sealed and watertight. Water enters our basements through these holes and cracks the most often, so correctly filling them is the first step in keeping your basement dry.

Suggested article: Keep Water Out with Interior Waterproofing in Toronto

Exterior basement waterproofing

When it comes to damp basements, the source of the problem is almost always found outside the building. When it comes to hiring a basement waterproofing contractor, it’s essential to look beyond the basement walls. Exterior basement waterproofing is usually a much more involved process than the basic sealing process used in the interior basement waterproofing process. When contemplating exterior waterproofing techniques, it is a good idea to consult a licensed waterproofing company.

Basement drain systems

Drainage issues often cause moisture problems in a homeowner’s basement. Maintaining a dry basement needs good drainage around your house. Basement drainage systems are designed to steer water away from your home’s foundation, whether it’s rainwater or groundwater. There are several basement pump systems available to help monitor the water around your house.

Conclusion

There’s no better company to call than Aquatech Waterproofing when it comes to basement waterproofing in the Triad. They are there to take care of the employees well being, happiness, satisfaction and also to get the best of talent in the team to work and help the business thrive. They have to balance between keeping up with the employees’ expectations and the employer’s expectations. HR and payroll software deserves a special mention here because it does a lot of redundant tasks for employees by setting them on autopilot and giving them the time to HR to strategize and make plans for making the company an even better place for employees!

In this blog, we tell you all about this helpful HR & payroll software. We have tried to cover everything you would need. Let’s begin.

What is HR software?

HR software stands for Human resources software and this is a software that uses a number of features and modules that HR department requires. The software supports data, HR, and processes. The modules that HR software mostly offers are Time and attendance, payroll, workforce, helpdesk, performance, core hr, engagement, expense, recruitment and more.

What is payroll software?

Payroll software is such a strong software in itself that it is also sold standalone. Payroll is what is made to process the salaries of employees. And payroll software helps automate the process of transferring and calculating salary on time for all the employees and gig workers. The software works in sync with the time and attendance module it takes the work hours data from there and the presences and absences as well to calculate the time correctly. This helps HR in paying the right amount timely to the employees which is really important for employee satisfaction.

Suggested article: Payroll Software | Online Payroll Management Software India

Benefits of HR & Payroll Software

Both the software whether taken combines or separately help a business in cutting down the time taken to perform manual redundant tasks. But when you keep these two essential software separate, you can find yourself overspending. So, don’t do this mistake. The employee names, job data, codes, addresses, and everything else are taken care of by the software itself. Here are some of the benefits that you will end up experiencing when you start using HR and payroll software-

Payroll benefits-

When an employee receives a promotion, the employee would surely be happier but it would only mean more work for HR. Why? Because most of the time the promotion leads to increase and change in the salary structure of the employee. So, in this, the payroll software comes handy as it comes with an automatic CTC calculator. HR can just put the increased salary amount and the distribution would be shown by the software in a click.

Benefits for HR-

HR many times misses on many important strategic moves, talent acquisition decisions and other things that matter and require some thinking. The HR and payroll software helps expedite so many processes for HR that they get time to think and act on the plan. They can then even think of plans that can impact the business outcomes positively. They can also use the software to see employee engagement information. The software basically also supports you with the help of analytics to make the right decisions as everything is backed by facts.

Benefits for employees-

The self-service option in the HR & payroll software is also pretty amazing. This feature helps the employees in checking their information, make their investment declaration, download form, and file income tax returns. This eases not just the work and strain in the mind of employees but also of HR. HR no longer needs to answer every tiny query as the software makes the information transparent. Moreover, they also don’t need to guide every person and distribute the forms, things are simpler online!

Challenges of HR & Payroll Software

HR & payroll software is a boon and because of the same, there are many things that it is beneficial for. So, when we use the word challenge here, we mean that the problem might happen when you select the wrong HR & payroll software for your company.

Here are some of the challenges-
